Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, held a private meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tianjin, China.

At the invitation of H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a working visit to Tianjin, met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 31 at 5 p.m. local time at Hotel Wanda Vista, Tianjin.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed issues related to stability and peace along border areas, promotion of trade, strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two governments, military-to-military cooperation, India’s support for the successful holding of Myanmar’s upcoming election and the possibility of sending observer missions, India’s backing for Myanmar’s bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as well as broader cooperation in various sectors.

Attending the meeting alongside Senior General Min Aung Hlaing were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win OO, accompanying commission members, union ministers, Myanmar’s ambassador to China, and senior military officers. From the Indian side, officials from the Government of India joined Prime Minister Modi.

This was the first meeting between Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Prime Minister Narendra Modi since their last discussions in April 2025, when both leaders attended the BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok, Thailand.
