On the evening of July 13, a bridge on the Goktwin road near Namhkio town in northern Shan State was destroyed in a bomb explosion, as reported by local news outlets.

The Goktwin road section between Kyaukme and Namhkio towns had been closed since July 10, prohibiting all vehicle traffic. On July 13, the bridge in Goktwin was blown up, according to local sources cited by regional media.

Reports suggest that after the military advanced close to Namhkio town, the TNLA and allied groups demolished the Goktwin bridge between Kyaukme and Namhkio for security reasons, as claimed by residents.

While local media have covered the destruction of the Goktwin bridge with accompanying photos, neither the military nor the TNLA has officially released statements regarding the incident. Currently, due to ongoing clashes, residents from villages such as Naungpit, Lonkyein, Lonwe, Pinpaw, and Zee Pin camps on the Naungpein side have been displaced and are seeking refuge.

As of July 13, fighting between the military and the TNLA continues in five villages within Namhkio Township: Shwepyinyunt, Kyauk Taw, Konesan, Panlan, and Kyaukkyan.

On September 2, 2024, Myanmar’s Counter-Terrorism Central Committee declared the MNDAA, AA, and TNLA as terrorist organizations.
