Minor earthquake strikes southeast of Taikkyi Township

On April 17, at exactly 8:22:14 pm Myanmar Standard Time, a minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale was recorded in Myanmar.

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH), the tremor occurred approximately 5 miles southeast of Taikkyi Township. The earthquake’s epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers, with coordinates of 17.25 degrees North latitude and 95.99 degrees East longitude. It was registered by the seismological observatory at Kabar Aye, located about 29 miles northwest of the epicenter.

Officials confirmed that the earthquake was of low intensity and caused no significant damage.
