150 foreign nationals detained for illegal entry into Myawady, Shwe Kokko, and KK Park areas

The authorities have detained an additional 150 foreign nationals who illegally entered the Myawaddy, Shwe Kokko, and KK Park areas through unauthorized routes on February 24, according to the reports.

This action is part of ongoing government efforts to crack down on crimes along border areas, including illegal online gambling and online scams.

Officials are currently collecting personal information and records of the detainees to facilitate their prompt repatriation to their respective countries through coordinated departmental efforts.

Between January 30 and February 24, a total of 2,370 foreign nationals were apprehended for illegal entry into Myanmar. Among them, 673 individuals have already been repatriated to their countries via Thailand under legal procedures. Preparations are underway to repatriate the remaining 1,697 detainees.

The detained foreign nationals are from various countries, including China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal, Thailand, Rwanda, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, and Taiwan (China), with the majority being Chinese citizens.
