The United States has suspended funding to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) for 90 days, resulting in the suspension of healthcare services in refugee camps along the Thailand-Myanmar border, according to local news sources.

Healthcare services in these refugee camps were halted starting the morning of January 27, as confirmed by healthcare officials in the camps who spoke to KIC News, a local news agency.

This suspension follows the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to temporarily halt international aid. As a result, the IRC, which provides assistance to refugees along the Thailand-Myanmar border, has had its funding suspended for 90 days.

Due to this service suspension, only emergency patients who are already hospitalized will continue receiving care, while other patients have been discharged since the morning of January 27. Outpatient services have also been suspended, according to healthcare officials who spoke to KIC News.

Additionally, healthcare services have also been suspended in refugee camps such as Noatpo, Ohnphyan, and Mela, according to KIC News.

Along with healthcare services, waste management systems under the healthcare department in these refugee camps have also been halted, as confirmed by the Karen Refugee Committee (KRC) to KIC News.

The IRC has been providing not only healthcare services but also maternal and child healthcare, clean water access, and sanitation support in refugee camps along the Thailand-Myanmar border.

There are at least nine refugee camps along the Thailand-Myanmar border, including Ohnphyan and Mela, which host the largest refugee populations.
