A Chinese actor who went missing near the Thai-Myanmar border has been found in Myanmar’s Myawaddy District and handed over to Thai authorities, reports confirm.
The actor reportedly entered Myanmar through the Mae Ko Kan natural border gate. Local armed groups detained him, and Thai authorities received him back on January 7 around 2 PM.
The missing actor, identified as Wang Xing, was located on the Myanmar side of the border. Thai Police Chief Thatchai Pitaneelabutr personally oversaw his recovery, according to reports from Khaosod English. Wang Xing had been missing since January 3.
Details about how Wang Xing went missing and where exactly he was found remain scarce.
However, local sources indicate that he was discovered near KK Park, a site associated with online scam operations close to Myawaddy Township.
CCTV footage revealed that Wang Xing crossed from Ban Mae Konken in southern Mae Sot into Myanmar. Shortly after, he went missing, as confirmed by Tak District authorities and reported by Bangkok Post.
Wang Xing had traveled to Thailand on the morning of January 3 to consider an acting offer. He arrived in Mae Sot, a town on the Thai-Myanmar border, but disappeared soon after.
His partner, Jia Jia, sought help from authorities in both Thailand and China.
The case garnered widespread attention in Chinese media and social networks, prompting coordinated efforts by Chinese, Thai, and Myanmar officials, as reported by Thai news outlets.
