In Mandalay Region’s Patheingyi Township, authorities seized over 6.1 million methamphetamine tablets and 440 grams of heroin, valued at over 9 billion MMK.

On November 22 at around 6:30 a.m., a joint task force, including members of the Anti-Narcotics Police Force, intercepted a motorcycle driven by Kyaw Thu Lwin (alias Mon Chay) at the corner of 101st Street and the Ring Road in Patheingyi Township. Upon inspection, they found 60,000 methamphetamine tablets in his possession.

Further investigation led to the discovery of 6.04 million methamphetamine tablets hidden at his rented residence in Aung Mingalar (1) Ward, Patheingyi Township. Additionally, 440 grams of heroin were recovered from a hotel room located at the corner of 35th Street and 54th Street in Mandalay City, where they were prepared for sale. In total, authorities seized 6.1 million methamphetamine tablets and 440 grams of heroin with an estimated value exceeding 9.1 billion MMK.

According to the investigation, later that day at around 1:00 p.m., another suspect, Aung Khine Min (alias Pho Lone), who was involved in transporting and trafficking the drugs, was arrested along with a CRV vehicle at the intersection of 51st Street and 123rd x 124th Street in Mandalay City.

Both Kyaw Thu Lwin (alias Mon Chay) and Aung Khine Min (alias Pho Lone) are now facing legal action under relevant laws, and further investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the drug trafficking network.
