Monk killed in Yangon Buddhist Teaching Monastery explosion

A 37-year-old monk lost his life in a handmade grenade explosion yesterday morning at the Myo Oo Buddhist Teaching Monastery, located within the Myanma Gone Yaung Housing compound in Tamwe Township, Yangon Region.

According to the State Administration Council’s (SAC) Information Team, the incident occurred around 8:10 a.m. on November 18. 

The monk, who also served as the Chairman of the Ward Sangha Nayaka Committee, was residing in the basement of the monastery’s three-story building at the time of the explosion.

The SAC reported that investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
