An incident occurred in Mandalay on October 25 around 2 a.m. when a teahouse worker attacked with a knife, resulting in the deaths of the shop owner and a fellow worker, while two others sustained injuries.

The incident took place at Ngwe Kaung Tea Shop, located between 63rd and 64th Streets on 17th Street in the Aungmyathazan Township. An 18-year-old male worker attacked other workers and the shop owner couple with a knife.

The attacker, identified as Ye Paing Shwe, reportedly used a kitchen knife to strike fellow worker Myo Htet Aung, who suffered a fatal cut to the neck. Another worker sleeping nearby was also attacked and cried out for help.

Hearing the cries, the shop owner couple, who lived downstairs, rushed upstairs. Ye Paing Shwe then attacked them as well, fatally injuring the wife with a severe neck wound. She died while being transported to the hospital, while the husband sustained injuries to his shoulder, arm, and nose.

Following the attack, Ye Paing Shwe fled the scene. Authorities later apprehended him at a nearby guesthouse.
