Flooding in Myawady has slightly receded, but major routes like Bayintnaung Road (in front of Ward 4 office), Bogyoke Road, and major streets in Ward 5 remain underwater, preventing vehicle movement.
On Bogyoke Road, traffic is only possible from Bogyoke Market to the People’s Hospital entrance. On U Aung Zeya Road, which connects to Ward 5, travel is only possible up to the post office due to the lack of boats. People are navigating the water by walking.
The Thaungyin River's flooding in Myawady almost reached the level of the 2013 flood, with water submerging low-lying areas in all wards, causing significant distress and damage.
A resident of Mogoksetwaingkyaung Road commented, “This time, the flood needed only about three more feet to match the 2013 record. It’s fortunate that the water level is receding. The water didn’t reach the upper floors of the houses, so families are staying upstairs rather than going to rescue shelters. But flooding still causes losses when water enters homes.”
Around 10,000 flood-affected residents are taking refuge in rescue shelters at monasteries and religious halls in Myawady. They are in dire need of food, clothing, and drinking water.
Due to the rising Thaungyin River on the night of July 25, homes and casinos near the riverbanks were submerged. Markets and warehouses on the Mae Sot side, storing and selling Japanese used cars, were also flooded, submerging hundreds of vehicles.
