Illegal trade crackdown nets over 32 million kyats worth of goods in three regions

A series of raids by the Illegal Trade Eradication Leading Committee (ITELC) in Nay Pyi Taw, Magway and Bago Regions resulted in the seizure of various illegal goods worth over 32 million kyats from January 5 to 7, according to a statement released by the committee.

The seized goods included unregistered vehicles, illegal timber, and smuggled foodstuffs, which were confiscated by different teams under the ITELC’s management. The offenders were charged under the relevant export-import and forest laws, and the customs procedure was followed.

The statement said that the ITELC was committed to preventing illegal trading in accordance with the prevailing laws and urged the public to cooperate with the authorities.
