Naing Thet Lwin, former ethnic affairs minister died of heart disease at the Kantharyar Hospital on September 20.
“He turned 83 on that day and he also died on that day,” said a man close to his family.
His body will transport back to Mawlamyine and funeral service will be held on September 22 at Myanmar cemetery in Painnekone village in Kyaikmaraw Township.
He was born in 1940 at Letpan village, Kyaikmaraw Township. He graduated B.A (Philosophy) from Mawlamyine College. He married his wife Mi Kyin Than in 1971 wearing very first Mon traditional costume. He entered politics in 1958. He acted as vice-chairs in Mon National Democracy in 1988, Mon Democracy Party in 2012, Mon National Party in 2014.
He served as an Ethnic Affairs Minister during the terms of former presidents U Htin Kyaw and U Win Myint from March 30, 2016 to February 1, 2021.
