A bomb explosion occurred at the tollgate on the side of Hpa-an Township on Thanlwin Bridge (Hpa-an) this morning, according to local sources.

According to the initial report, the bomb was planted on a vehicle and then it exploded. Due to the car bomb blast, the tollgate building and the approach road to the bridge were destroyed, said nearby residents.

They said that they didn’t know exactly about the injuries. But, civilians including police from the tollgate, security force and officials from the immigration department were wounded. Many ambulances rushed to the scene, they added.

Vehicles and motorbikes were also destroyed in the explosion and the bridge has closed now.
