War refugees from Pwint Lin Aye Myaing (Tonetantar) Village have not been able to return home even after more than a month and are in need of food due to the battles and explosions caused by heavy artillery shells that took place near the town of Myawady in Kayin State.

In these days, it is reported that many local residents have been forced to avoid the fighting due to the explosions of heavy weapons and several days of fighting between the two sides in the vicinity of Myitta Lay Myaing, Kant Kaw Tahtaung, Lat Khat Taung and Pwint Lin Aye Myaing villages located south of Myawady.

It is reported that the whole village fled the war until July 21 when a heavy shell destroyed a house in Pwint Lin Aye Myaing (Tonetantar) Village at about 2:00 pm on June 19 and a woman was injured by a bullet.

"When a heavy shell fell in the village, all the villagers have been sheltered at the monastery since June 19. There are more than 250 people from 54 households. Now, there are more and more battles nearby every day. I still don't know when we will be able to return," said a refugee.

Villagers of Pwint Lin Aye Myaing (Tonetantar) Village who are sheltering at the monastery in Ward No. 4, Myawaddy Town, are being fed with food donated by donors.

U Soe Tint, Chairman of Myawady Administration Council and the council member U Sein Thaung, came to donate 10 bags of rice and 100,000 kyats on July 20 for 317 people from 89 households from Pwint Lin Aye Myaing (Tonetantar) Village sheltering at the monastery.

It is also reported that the ward administration has encouraged donors to personally come and donate food and cash due to the increasing number of people fleeing the war and the daily fighting in the Myawady area.
