The MV Tung Sung sank in the waters, about 4 nautical miles from the north-west of Pulau Burung in Sebuyau, Malaysia’s territorial waters around 9:40 am on July 20, according to the freemalaysiatoday news agency.

In the sinking of the cargo vessel, the missing crews are Chieng Siew Ngiek, Wong Hua Wu, Maxwell Billy Stimba, Stimba Anak Chuit, Ko That Min July, Ko Ye Lin Htet, Ko Hla Win Tun, Ko Tun Lin Oo, and an Indonesian national, according to the news.

All of them are between the ages of 20 and 52, said Director Zin Azman Yunus of Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).

MMEA received the initial notification about the sinking of the ship at 9:40 am on 20 July  and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) launched a search and rescue operation regarding the sinking of the MV Tung Sung since 1:20 pm on 20 July together with MMEA’s vessel KM Kinabalu according to Zin Azman Yunus.

The police has stopped its search and rescue operation at 7:00 pm on July 20 and it will restart at 8:00 am on July 21 according to Zin Azman. The vessel was carrying gravels and sank while heading from Kuching to Sarikei, it is reported.
