A basic education high school in Nyaungon Ward No.5 of Pekon Township, southern Shan State, was set ablaze, the information team of the State Administration Council reported.
According to the report, PDF (People’s Defence Force) members carried out an arson attack on No.1 Basic Education High School in Nyaungon Ward No.5 of Pekon Township at about 11pm on June 3. A five-room school building with 210 feet in length, 30 feet in width and 22 feet in height was burnt down.
The school opened on June 1 for the academic year 2023-2024 with 40 teachers and 1,058 students.
