Representatives of the Ministry of Electric Power and Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom visited the project sites in Nay Pyi Taw on December 9.
A delegation from the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, currently in Myanmar, along with official of the Design and Graphics Division of the Hydropower Implementation Department, the Ministry of Electric Power, and officials from the Exploration Division and the Geological Division observed the ground condition of the Paunglaung Dam near Zeeyine Village, and Ngatesu Village of Thitaw Village-tract, Zeyathiri Township and observed rocky mechanics related to land and thermal energy projects, availability of water, conditions of earthquakes and faults, transport links, natural environment and social life.
They also studied the location and water inflow to the dam, height of the embankment, and observed the effect of land selection on the project site. Later, they observed a potential small hydropower project site in order to continue using the water produced by the Paunglaung Hydropower Plant. They also discussed in detail the conditions for the implementation of small-scale hydropower projects, earthquake and fault conditions of the target project areas. Plans were made to form a group of experts for continued cooperation. In the afternoon, the Union minister met officials and discussed the results of measurements compiled by them to conduct detailed seismic measurement activities based on observations.
