A masked man robbed the AYA Bank in front of Inya Lake on Pyay Road, Hlaing Township in the afternoon of September 2 and he was arrested in the evening.

It is reported that the perpetrator, a single male, entered the bank holding a knife when the bank was about to close and committed a robbery.

"A man robbed the AYA Bank in front of Inya Lake. He stormed into the bank with a knife. He was caught this evening," said a police officer.

In the bank robbery, a female bank employee was injured and nothing is robbed.

"I know that the cash is safe. A female employee of the bank was injured," said the police officer.

The information team of the State Administration Council announced a robbery had occurred at the AYA Bank branch (26) on Pyay Road, No. 10 Ward, Hlaing Township at 2:10 pm on September 2 and the security forces went to investigate. A man (still being verified) wearing a mask, aged about 30 years, entered the bank and threatened the bank employee Ma Swe Swe Win with a knife and forced her to put the money on the counter into the backpack he brought. During the robbery, the bank employees and responsible people in the bank surrounded and arrested the perpetrator. He left his backpack in the bank and run away.

After that, the security forces, with the cooperation of the responsible people, tried to arrest the person who committed the robbery by blocking and checking the escape routes. Soe Thiha, the bank robber, was arrested on Mya Kantha (2) Road at 4:15 pm. A case has been opened against him at the relevant local police station and action is being taken in accordance with the law, it said.
