There was difficulty in implementing the ASEAN Common Agreement due to the lack of stability in the country, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of State Administration Council and Prime Minister.

On August 1, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing added the above in his speech about his one year and six months (18 months) of serving the state of the State Administration Council.

"During the past year, Myanmar suffered severely from the second and third wave of the Covid-19 disease, and as it struggled to overcome the Covid-19 disaster and was dealing with internal unrest and violence, it was difficult to implement the ASEAN consensus due to the instability of the country. This year, since all the conditions have improved, we will carry out the priority actions out of the five common agreements as much as possible in accordance with the ASEAN framework,'' said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Issues that would encroach on the sovereignty of the three branches of government: internal affairs, judiciary and legislation are being considered, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said, "As the country becomes normal, there will be progress."

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that the government is working to be the best in dealing with the international community according to the basic principles of foreign affairs, and because Myanmar is a member of ASEAN, it also respects and values ​​ASEAN agreements.

Due to the political situation in 2020, he attended the ASEAN Summit held on April 24, 2021 and adopted five common agreements. In fulfilling this common agreement, Myanmar will implement using ASEAN way, ASEAN practice and ASEAN spirits, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
