As a result of over-speeding, a fuel bowser carrying fuel turned over between Konemon village and Nanoun village in Thibaw in Mandalay-Lashio Union Highway at 4:30 pm on July 29. Water was transported via water tankers for extinguishing from camps in Thibaw Township and Naung Mon village. No one on the fuel bowser was hurt.
A cargo vehicle carrying dry commodities coming from Mandalay to Lashio also fell to the ravine due to break failure at Kyaung Kone village at 11:00 pm. The driver got bruises as he jumped off from the vehicle when it fell to the ravine. He was admitted to Kyaukme hospital according to Ko Nay Aung from Naung Pain philanthropic association who were present at the scene.
Thousands of passenger buses and cargo vehicles use Mandalay-Lashio Union Highway every day for transporting of commodities to Chinese border towns such as Muse, Namtkham, Laukkai and Chin Shwe Haw.
