HPAKANT----As soil dump collapsed at Moekar village in Seikmu village-tract, Hpakant Township, Kachin State, yesterday morning, two men died from falling into the lake, according to the sources.

Those victims were jade hunters living in the Moekar village.

Myanmar Rescue Team (Hpakant) together with Thingar Social Welfare Association took the bodies out of the lake.

Although jade mining tasks already have been suspended in Hpakant, some jade mining sites are now digging the jades at night by using heavy machineries.

There are nearly 300,000 migrant workers in Hpakant Township coming from across the nation and they are working at the jade mining sites and some are now illegally searching the raw jades at the waste-soil dumps.

Deadly landslides and other accidents are common in Hpakant area and there have been casualties due to monthly landslide.
