Residents of two villages in Sagaing Region said the whole villages were burned down this week and humanitarian assistances were urgently needed.
Mwe Tone and Pann Villages in Pale Township were razed by the fire at 1: 00 am on February 2.
“Around 1:00 am on February 2, not only the houses in the village but also cattle were razed by fire. People had to run for their lives. Mwe Tone and Pann Villages in Pale Township were reduced to ashes,” said a Pale local who didn’t’ want to be identified.
Similarly, Ngwe Bin village in Minkin Township was also burnt down on January 31.
“Ngwe Bin village in Minkin Township was torched on January 31. Some elders were died in the fire. Villagers had to hide in the jungle. As it is cold season, much assistance including blankets are needed,” said a local who spoke on condition of anonymity.
