The funeral of Monywa Aung Shin aka U Aye Kyu, member of Central Committee and Secretary of Central Information Committee for the National League for Democracy (NLD) was held at 1:30 pm on November 30 at Yayway Cemetery in Yangon.
The body of 77-year-old Monywa Aung Shin aka U Aye Kyu is cremated and his ashes will be buried.
Pyapon Ni Lone Oo of the Hanthawaddy Foundation said, "My friend Monywa Aung Shin is a comrade who has been loyal to politics and died. I will never forget it. He can live a good life with strong faith until the day he dies.”
Monywa Aung Shin died of a heart attack at his home in Yangon at around 6 am on November 28.
He was admitted to Yangon General Hospital in November for heart disease.
He was 77 years old at the time of his death and was detained from February to October.
More than 1,300 prisoners were pardoned, and more than 4,300 defendants were released on October 18 and he died more than a month later from cardiovascular disease.
After his arrest, he was detained at the Mingaladon interrogation camp and released without signing for confession, he told the media.
In addition to the duties of the NLD, Monywa Aung Shin also served as the interim chairman of the Hanthawady U Win Tin Foundation and Chief Editor of De Hlaing Journal.
In addition, Monywa Aung Shin aka U Aye Kyu, a poet and writer, acted as an editor in Gita Padaytha, Pan, Sar Maw Kun and Sabaephyu magazines since 1970 and has published books of poetry such as "People's Poetry, People's Heart" and "A Diamond flower, a Sunflower". He was one of the leaders in the 1970s Moe Wai era poetry movement.
He wrote many translated poems and was banned from publishing from 1976 to 2010.
Monywa Aung Shin aka U Aye Kyu was born on May 18, 1945 in Kho Than village, Monywa Township, and his parents are U Pho Win and Daw Tin.
