Heroin, amphetamines worth over Ks610m seized in PyinOoLwin

A six-wheeler was searched on a tipoff by the anti-narcotic drugs squad in PyinOoLwin township, Mandalay Region, and more than six hundred and ten million kyats’ worth of heroin and amphetamines were seized, according to sources released by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control of Myanmar (CCDAC).

At 5.30 pm on Nonmember 11, 2021 members of the anti-narcotic drugs squad acting on a tipoff searched a Nissan Diesel six-wheeler, driven by Aung Ko Ko Myo, aged 34, near Nyaungdon village on PyinOoLwin-Mogok Road in PyinOoLwin township.

From within the vehicle 21.12 kilos of heroin and 57,000 tablets of amphetamines with a street value of over six hundred and ten million kyats were seized. In connection with the seizure of these drugs at 7.30pm San Thoe, 22, Lin Htet Aung, 24, and Ye Yint Htun, 29, were also nabbed as collaborators in the transport of these drugs. It was learnt that the drugs seized by the responsible personnel were being transported from Shan State (North) to Mandalay.

In the report released by CCDAC Myanmar the four persons connected with the drugs seized will be prosecuted as per prevailing  laws, and efforts were being made to seek those connected with this crime.
