The Sunopharm Covid-19 vaccines donated by China are being administered in various regions and states with Rakhine State having started vaccinations after the arrival of 8,000 doses, according to Rakhine State Public Health Department.
“We have received 8,000 doses that will cover about 4,000 people. We started vaccination on June 9. A person needs to be vaccinated two times. There must be 21 or 28 days between the first and second doses. But, those vaccinated also need to follow the Covid-19 restrictions as before when they are among public,” said an official from the department.
After India-made Covishield vaccines started arriving in Myanmar on January 22, 101,000 people in Rakhine State received those vaccine shots, according to health data.
Vaccination with the use of the China-donated Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine continues in various regions and states. They are receiving their quotas depending on population and outbreak. Among those prioritized are education staff. But there will be limitations as there are only about a hundred thousand doses.
