Fire broke out in two separate places in Myeik on January 3 and houses and monasteries were destroyed. Fire broke out in Sannawat village tract and Thamoat village tract in Myeik District on January 3 and in KYewku monastery.

Military men, Myeik fire brigade members from Myeik District and locals extinguished the fire. More than 9.2 million Kyats worth of properties were destroyed. No one was injured in the fire.
