MUSE---As the flash fighting between Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA) and Shan State Progress Party/Shan State Army-North (SSPP/SSA) and its alliance Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) occurred in Namtu Township, Kyaukme District, northern Shan State yesterday, some locals nearby fled to safer places.

The information came from the Tai Freedom News Agency being owned by RCSS.

The Tai Freedom News Agency reported that the monks, locals, political parties and social organizations from Shan State urged the RCSS and SSPP to stop the fighting. So, both sides agreed to cease the fighting on May 11th of 2019. Later, three villages in Namtu Township were designated as RCSS’s control regions, so also two villages in Namtu Township were under control of SSPP. The Namtmi Creek already divided those frontier villages being under control of both sides.

Currently, the Lashio-Mansan-Namtu road was blocked temporarily, according to the locals.

“The clash between RCSS/SSA from the mountain and TNLA/SSPP took place in Namtu Township, yesterday morning. Now, some villagers including the monks fled from the safer places. Some locals hid in their houses. There is no one on Lashio-Mansan-Namtu road due to the flash fighting,” said one of the locals.

Moreover, the fighting between RCSS and TNLA took place in Mongmu village-tract, Namtu Township, northern Shan State, in the morning of December 7th.
