MANDALAY----Mandalay Region has had a faster Coronavirus infection rate since the beginning of November.

Although authorities are carrying out a Stay-at-Home program aiming to prevent measures against the COVID-19, the infection rate is not decreasing as of December 8th.

Mandalay Region Control and Emergency Response Committee for COVID-19 reported that there had been over 200 COVID-19 confirmed cases in a single day.

The whole region had seen 90 deaths from COVID-19 till December 9th. Moreover, the Mandalay region will see more confirmed cases because the health authorities are carrying out swab tests to over 2,000 residents per day.

Currently, authorities have taken actions against those in Mandalay who violated the Stay-at-Home order making them pay a fine of over Ks 20 million in three days since the start of the two-week-long rule, according to the District General Administrative Department.

Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung said that those who failed to follow the rule must be faced social punishment or fine. About four in 1,000 people who have COVID-19 tests in the seven Townships of Mandalay District test positive for the Coronavirus. So, more treatment centers and hospital wards are being built.

The whole of Mandalay Region saw 8,066 COVID-19 cases. But, 5,390 patients out of 8,066 were discharged from the hospital.
