Ballot papers put in the unsealed envelopes were sent to Dagon Township Election Commission two days continuously according to some candidates.

A total of 11 ballot papers put in small envelopes from some townships in Yangon were arrived on October 27 and another 18 ballot papers from Aung Lan and Sagaing Township were arrived on October 28 according to Han Naing OO from People’s Pioneer party (PPP).

“All unsealed envelopes are small ones but the big envelopes are sealed and sent yesterday and today,” said Han Naing OO. Dagon Township Election Commission received 58 voting envelopes from personnel of 905 Company of General Engineers unsealed on October 21. Therefore, Dagon Township Election Commission decided to discount these envelopes  for violating electoral law and submitted the matter to various sub-commissions and Union Election Commission. But, the case of unsealed envelopes sent two days consecutively were not decided by the township commission and submitted to UEC.

In the election law, it is prescribed that big and small envelopes with ballot papers must be sealed thoroughly. The sealed envelopes are violating the electoral law according to Ba Myo Thein from NLD. The decision is up to the Union Election Commission, he added.
