The authorities found explosive devices used as timer-operated mines at a 16-mile checkpoint at the entrance of Mandalay around 8 pm of October 28, sources said.
The army came to check the explosive devices and defused them.
“The explosive devices are attached to a clock to be triggered in specific time. An expert from the mine squad defused them. It poses no danger to the public,” said Lt-Col Kyaw Myint Aung.
Although trucks were barred to go past the checkpoint, the trucks were allowed to go after the timer-operated mines were defused.
