Myanmar found 1138 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on October 16 and 35 more people have died, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) statement on October 16.
A total of 13,510 samples were tested on October 15 and 16, and found new cases of 1,138.
A total of 771 people are allowed to be discharged from the hospitals, bringing the total number of people free from COVID-19 to 15,477. Among the 34 deaths, 29 deceased had previous diseases prior to COVID-19.
Till now, Myanmar has 33,488 confirmed cases. Up to 799 patients have died from the virus, it said.
Moreover, a total of 2,305 people who had close contact with the positive cases in Yangon Region will be placed under home quarantine.
