Shan state health department sends 9 more to help Yangon

Nine more medical officers and doctors have been sent to Yangon, according to the Shan State Department of Treatment and Public Health.



Four doctors and five medical officers from southern and northern Shan State left for Yangon on 30 Sept under the auspices of Shan State Treatment and Public Health department. It is the third time that Shan state sent healthcare workers to reinforce the overloaded Yangon.

     

"They left this morning. They are altogether 12 with the previous number sent. In the group that left today there are two doctors from southern Shan State, one each from northern and eastern Shan State, which adds up to nine. In the previous batch there were one doctor each, who were deputy director and assistant director. With these three there are a total of twelve. Two from northern Shan State went on their own. There were seven altogether from eastern and southern Shan State. They are lodging at the Sports and Physical Science. They volunteered to go. Departments from northern, eastern and southern states contribute to their needs in cash and in kind. Yesterday Kanbawza Bank donated K 15,000,000. All those that went were given K 200,000 each. The same amount was given to the previous nurses that went. Everything has been arranged for them in Yangon as regards their food and lodging," said Dr Thuzar Chit Tin from the department of Shan State Treatment and  Public Health.

     

She further said that fourty nurses from southern Shan State had been sent to Yangon in two batches. One physician, a deputy director from southern Shan State, one physician, assistant director from eastern Shan State, ane physician, assistant director from northern Shan State, totaling three have already been sent. On 30 Sept. four doctors and regional health officers were sent.

     

Kanbawza Bank contributed K 15,000,000 for the general use of health workers from southern Shan State who went to contribute labor in Yangon. The lab technicians from Taunggyi Sao San Htun hospital were given K 5,000 000. The total amount contributed by Kanbawza Bank is K 20,000,000
