NAYPYITAW-The Personal Staff Officer of the Deputy Minister from the State Counsellor’s Office tested positive for COVID-19, says Spokesperson Zaw Htay from the President Office.

Although the Deputy Minister of the State Counsellor’s Office tested negative for COVID-19, he is under Hotel Quarantine and that his swabs will be tested again within these days, according to the Spokesperson.

News spread on the Social Media that the Deputy Minister of the State Counsellor’s Office tested positive for COVID-19.

Zaw Htay replied that the swab test of Deputy Minister Khin Maung Tin was negative. But, his personal staff officer (PSO) tested positive for COVID-19. The swabs of the deputy minister and his PSO were tested in a single day.

Likewise, COVID-19 confirmed case was found at the Presidential Palace. Later, the health authorities traced those who had close contact with the above confirmed case.

Moreover, a female reporter out of 36 based in Nay Pyi Taw, who attended the press conference held in Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw on September 4th, was found infected with COVID-19 virus, announced President Office on September 12th and then she was sent to 1,000-bed Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw.

Later, the authorities took a swab test on the reporters arranged by the President Office as an assistant director from Presidential Palace was found infected with the virus on September 9.

Zaw Htay added that officials from the President Office including the President and State Counsellor were tested negative.

“Departments in the Presidential Palace are still running regularly with half of the staff daily. The President and State Counsellor are in good health and they are performing their duties,” said the spokesperson.
