A total of 339 car accidents happened in Yangon Region in six months this year killing over 90 people, according to No (2) Traffic Police Force. 

In the accidents that occurred from January to June in 2020, 97 people died and 445 were injured. 

The whole country saw 203 car accidents with 62 deaths in January, 204 accidents with 73 deaths in February, 180 accidents with 52 deaths in March, 119 accidents with 37 deaths in April, 153 accidents with 50 deaths and 186 accidents with 47 deaths in June. 

In the six-month period, the worst accident happened in Yangon Region on June 2. 

In that accident, a YBS bus No.40 crashed into a taxi running from Thirimingalar Market to Hsinmalaik on Bayintnaung Road in Kamayut Township at about 6 am on June 2. The  driver and two passengers aboard the taxi ( Filder) died on the spot. 

In 2019, Yangon Region saw 2,324 accidents in which 671 people died and 2,667 were injured. 

According to official data, 2019 saw the largest numbers of accidents and deaths in three years.
