Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) attacked an under-construction hotel owned by Panse militia in Muse, northern Shan State using a 40 mm grenade launcher on the night of April 24, announced Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services on April 25.

The TNLA forces fired three grenades and one of them hit the hotel wall and no one has injured in the accident. The TNLA also demanded extortion money to locals in Muse and they also rang and demanded Chinese Yuan 1.5 million from Panse militia on March 15 using a Chinese sim card. Initial reports said the hotel was attacked as the Panse militia didn’t pay extortion money, it said.

Tatmadaw is conducting operations in the area for security and mine clearance.

The TNLA released an announcement on April 24 which said they didn’t attack the casino owned by Panse militia located near Pankham Bridge in Muse.

They said three alliance members: TNLA, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), and Arakan Army (AA) announced a unilateral ceasefire till at the end of April and they avoided fighting in the area. They didn’t start to launch the offensive attacks also.

The TNLA said they didn’t make any activities such as instability in the area and giving trouble for locals in any area including Palaung self-administrated area in the time of COVID-19 outbreak.

They said they didn’t make the attack on the hotel and Muse has many armed organizations. So they don’t know who attack it.

Three grenades exploded in Kyegaung, China due to the attack and Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP) said on April 27 that they didn’t plot the attack.

The statement released by the SSPP said they gave special consideration to internal peace and stability in the border areas and is trying to solve the problem using political ways and negotiations.

Many armed organizations such as TNLA, KIA, SSPP, and militia groups are operating in Muse.
