Department for Civil Aviation (DCA) follows the instructions of World Health Organization (WHO) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in international airports and domestic airports in a timely manner, according to Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The DCA instructed Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) and Myanmar Airways International (MAI) to suspend their chartered services to China to prevent the 2019 Novel Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) issued an electronic bulletin to its member countries and instructed the pilots to inform the respective air traffic control tower if the passengers with suspected coronavirus symptoms are included in their planes.
The MAI announced it has canceled all chartered flights to Hangzhou, Hefei, Jinan, Jinijang, Linyi, Nanchang, Nanjing, Ningbo, Qingdao and Yanta in China from January 31 till further notice.
Moreover all airlines flying from China to Yangon International Airport were suspended except Cathay Dragon Airlines from Hong Kong and China Air from Taiwan. Most of the flights from China were suspended from February 4.
The Chinese airlines suspended temporarily are China Eastern Airlines, 9 Air, JC (Cambodia) Airlines, Qingdao Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Spring Air, China Southern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Air China, Kunming Airlines and Ruili Air.
