Religious leaders, CSOs and political activists conducted a peaceful demonstration in front of Monywa City Hall in Sagaing Township on November 24, to show their support for the Myanmar State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who will defend the case filed by Gambia at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). 

Myint Kyi, Secretary of Sagaing Region National League for Democracy said: “Both sides have different reasons. We cannot bar them from filing a case against us. I believe our officials can solve this problem in a rightful manner. We have no enemy. We must safeguard the interests of each and every citizen. I think our leader leads it with farsighted view.  

The peaceful demonstration was also participated by Sagaing Region Chief Minister Dr. Myint Naing, the Sagaing Region Social Affairs Minister, Regional Parliament Speaker and regional MPs.
