KITSAPA-As there are nearly 3,000 Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs)  taking a shelter in Tainnyo refugee camp in Mrauk-U Township, Rakhine State, tents and food relief supplies are urgently needed for new victims, according to the Tainnyo refugee camp.

The number of IDPs already increased at the Tainnyo refugee camp and there are totaling 762 households comprising 2,978 family members taking a shelter.

These refugees fled from 13 villages in Mrauk-U Township to Tainnyo refugee camp, starting in early March.

“As more 20 households comprising over 70 family members already arrived from Pyaingtaung village with empty handed, there are 2,978 refugees at the Tainnyo camp. Now, there is a lack of donors. So, we are temporarily keeping them at the monastery because there is no tent at the refugee camp. Mainly, food relief supplies are needed at the camp,” said a person who helps the victims at the camp.

As the fighting between government’s troops and Arakan Army-AA took place near Waitharli and Lakar villages in Mrauk-U Township on October 19th, the villagers fled from Waitharli village by boat. However, the boat capsized killing 16-aged student and 3-aged child.
