The second public briefing on Yangon Urban Mass Rapid Transit (YUMRT) project to be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Yangon Region government and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was held on January 14, according to sources from Myanma Railways.
The briefing took place in Hline and Hlinethaya townships on the same day.
"The first briefing was held in 2019 and this is the second time," said an official from Myanma Railways (MR).
The first briefing was held in June and July last year.
MR Managing Director Ba Myint said YUMRT project is set to commence in 2022.
According to JICA Myanmar office, under a feasibility study, the project will start in an area of 18 kilometers from Hlinethaya to Parami Railway Station (from east to west) of Yangon city.
The feasibility study started in May 2018 and YUMRT project will include sky train projects in the areas from east to west and from south to west.
The feasibility study is set to finish earlier this year.
