Center of Excellence for Wound Care Unit will be opened at Yangon General Hospital this year, said Myanmar Wound Care Society chairman orthopedist Professor Dr Myint Thaung.

According to data from hospitals across the country, 40 percent of hospitalized patients face difficulties such as delays in hospital discharge as their wounds have not been cured, delays in performing surgery and unnecessary amputations. Therefore, plans have been made to open the center of excellence for wound care unit to resolve such difficulties, said Dr Myint Thaung.

As a pilot project when the center opens, treatment will be provided for injuries and wounds caused by diabetes.

"Experts and specialists will cooperate to cure patients with those complaints. By doing this, patients will be cured as quickly as possible.
