A total of eight new jetties, which can dock bulk carriers, are built within three-year time and more than three million containers are handled in that period, according to Myanma Port Authority (MPA).
Yangon port, which is handling over 90 per cent of international maritime trade, has now possessed up to 41 jetties.
Myanmar has 1,385 miles length of coastal area and nine ports are built along the coast. Among the ports, Yangon port is the major port.
The eight new jetties are 200-meter length Green Asia jetty, Elite Perto Chemical jetty, Wilmar International jetty, International Bulk Terminal Thilawa jetty, 135-meter length Puma Energy Asia Sun jetty, 80-meter length Kyimyindaing International Port Terminal jetty and two 400-meter length jetties built on No.25 and 26 land plots in Thilawa.
Myanmar handled over three million containers and over 76 million tons of cargos in three-year time.
The MPA built a steel jacket type main bridge, three smaller bridges, dockyard buildings, the purchase of two quay cranes, six RTGs, three reach stackers, six trailers and six chassis using about US$200 million loan from Japan in Thilawa area.
