Yangon Elevated Expressway Project Phase-1 under way

Plan is under way to implement Yangon Elevated Expressway Project Phase-1 on the east wing under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system, according to the Construction Ministry.

Construction Ministry will upgrade the inner ring road into the elevated expressway in Yangon.

In September, the ministry invited companies to submit prequalification applications for Yangon Elevated Expressway Project Phase-1. The ministry will release the shortlisted companies at the end of November and invite the request for proposal.

On November 13, the Construction Ministry held a ceremony to the tender process for Yangon Elevated Expressway Project, in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

Union Minister for Construction Han Zaw expressed thanks for the submission of prequalification applications.

Deputy director-general Kyi Zaw Myint who is also secretary of the tender committee explained the facts about tender rules and regulations and tender processes. Officials from the tender committee and the IFC checked each tender application and release the names of applicants.

Yangon elevated expressway project aims to set up a better transport between Yangon downtown, jetty, Yangon International Airport, Mingaladon Industrial zone and Yangon-Mandalay highway. Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Preliminary Information Memorandum (PIM) covering the background information about the project are available at a cost of US$ 1,500, at the Road Works Department at the Construction Ministry.

Qualified tender winners will be allowed to submit the project proposal, according to the Construction Ministry.
