The stake-driving ceremony of Yangon-Dalla Bridge will be held in December 23, and the construction of the bridge will start in January next year, according to the press conference by the Construction Ministry in Dalla Township in Yangon on November 24.

Kyaw Kaung Cho, deputy director general of Bridge Department at the Construction Ministry said: “The four-lane bridge is a steel suspension design. The project will compete in around mid-2022.”

The project will be developed at a cost of US$ 188.174 million—a loan of over US$ 157.833 million from South Korea and US$ 30.341 million from Myanmar.

The bridge’s water clearance area is 49 meters in height and 370 meters in width. The bridge design is being drafted by the Korean consultancy company.

On June 17, more than 1,000 people staged a demonstration, calling for an immediate implementation of the bridge project.
