A total of 443 foreigners entered Myanmar through Yangon International Airport via Covid-19-related special flights in October this year.

The Yangon airport has suspended international flight arrivals since the Covid-10 outbreak.

In October last year, 51,791 international tourists entered the country through Yangon airport and seaports. Meanwhile, Mandalay Airport and Nay Pyi Taw Airport saw 32,628 and 4,178 foreign travellers respectively in that month.

Myanmar has stopped international flight entry since March this year due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. In September Yangon International Airport received 345 foreigners who arrived on Covid-related special flights.

According to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the number of foreigners who arrived in Myanmar via oceanic vessels from January to July this year has decreased by 85 percent when compared to the same period of the previous year.

From January to June this year, Yangon International Airport handled the arrival of 1.5 million local and foreign travellers through special and relief flights despite its suspended regular international flights. However, the rate declined by 52 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Yangon Airport has seen the lowest flight numbers over the past five year since its service was handed over to Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited in 2015.
