Yangon airport closed temporarily due to thick fog

Yangon International Airport was temporarily closed on February 25 morning due to thick fog, according to airport sources.

Beginning about 7.20 am, landing and taking off of airplanes had halted and operation resumed at about 8.06 am.

The airport announced that air passengers were to contact their respective airlines following flight schedule changes due to thick fog. During the closure, some international aircrafts had to fly round over Hlegu town.

"Due to thick fog on the morning of February 25, Yangon International Airport had to stop the landing and taking off airplanes from 7.20 am to 8.6 am. At about 8.6 am, operation resumed," said an official from Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited (YACL).

On February 10, 17 and 23 also, airport operations had to stopped due to thick fog.
