Workers from KGG garment factory in Prince Kanaung Street in Dagon Seikkan  Township Industrial Zone (2), Yangon Region, surrounded and blocked the factory beginning at 10 pm on March 29 as they fear that their boss would run away without paying their salaries.

“As the factory owner was reportedly attempting to run away, the workers tried to stop the owner without taking responsibility. This is why the workers are blocking the factory,” said Ma Ei, secretary of KGG garment factory worker union.

Currently, authorities have seized the passport of the factory owner who is a foreign citizen. Negotiations will be made on March 30.

The factory has about 1,600 workers and over 300 are surrounding the factory.
