Waziya Cinema Street was opened on the backyard lane of Waziya Cinema between 33rd Street and 34th Street in Yangon on November 17.

The opening ceremony was attended by Yangon Region Mayor Maung Maung Soe and guests.

"I am glad and grateful to see this backyard lane change a lot. My thanks especially go to the residents of these two streets. This is a show of their unity. Without their wish, the backyard lane would not have become like this. As a mayor, I am proud of it. I also thank Yangon City Development Committee," the mayor said.

The deputy head of mission of the French Embassy also delivered a speech and Yangon Region MP Kyi Pyar spoke words of thanks.

An official from YGN Walls explained artistic works it has created in the backyard lane such as wall paintings.

The mural paintings include the images of late famous film stars in Myanmar's movie history. Moreover, over 60 famous Myanmar movies are on display there.
