Water bus to run in Ngamoeyeik creep: Yangon Chief

The region government is planning to run water bus in Ngamoeyeik creep for the convenience of water transport, said Yangon Region Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein during an interview with Myanma Ahlin newspaper.

 If the water transport is used, it can reduce the traffic jam in Yangon and transaction can be made through water transport, he said.

“Water bus can only run in Yangon River right now and if we can implement it in Ngamoeyeik creep, people from South Dagon, East Dagon, North Dagon and Dagon Seikkan townships can depend on water transport. The region government is removing some old bridges as the foundations of the bridges can post a danger for vessels. If the water bus can run in the creep, it can facilitate the water transport,” he said.

Moreover the region government will try to provide water transport services to Thanlyin Star City and Thilawa through Bago River. They are building dry ports and goods are transported to dry ports through trucks, it can facilitate trade transaction and expenses, he added.

Similarly, the region government is changing public transport system and carrying out to upgrade train stations, he said.

Tint Tint Myanmar company is running water bus from Insein to Botahtaung along Yangon River and other river cruises since October 7, 2017.
