KISSAPA-The villagers from Nantthataung Village in Taungpyoletwel, Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, have beeen relocated to their original places, according to the sources.

There are now a total of 42 houses in the previously burned-down village. Those 42 houses have been handed over to the residents and can accommodate up to 147 people.

“Nantthatuang village and the monastic school were burnt during the attack occurred on August 25th, 2017. However, the reconstruction tasks had been completed. Now, the villagers from the burned-out village have been relocated. The houses were chosen via a lucky draw program. At the village, there is a total of 42 houses which can accommodate up to 147 villagers. However, some villagers cannot return to the village as they do not own houses,” said the Presiding Sayadaw monk from the monastic education school in Natthataung village.

The aforementioned head monk, MP Maung Ohn, Taungpyoletwel Township Administrator Zaw Moe and authorities had to draw lots to decide on which families get relocated on December 18.

Those houses were built through the Indian government’s assistance with one house costing Ks 18.5 million.
