PDF members shot a village administrative official dead in Thinbawtin Village, Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, and abducted his son, according to police sources.

At 1:50 p.m. on December 11, 63-year-old U Myint Than, an administrative official of Thinbawtin Village, and his son, Ko Hein Zaw Myint (alias Po Thar), aged 25, were at home when eight PDF members arrived on four motorbikes. The assailants shot U Myint Than and abducted his son. They also took four motorcycles from U Myint Than’s house. U Myint Than died of bullet wounds at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
